Airport Lounge in Peru wins worldwide accolade from Priority Pass
11 March 2009

SUMAQ VIP Lounge, Lima named Lounge of the Year 2009

Priority Pass, the world’s leading independent airport lounge program, announces that its members have rated the SUMAQ VIP Lounge, Jorge Chavez International Airport, Lima as the Lounge of the Year 2009.

In the 5 years that Lounge of the Year has been running, this is the first occasion that the global award has been made to an airport lounge outside the USA.

It reflects the excellent facilities and service available at this lounge, and is the result of an annual poll of Priority Pass members throughout the world, who rate the lounges they have visited.  Priority Pass members recorded over 16,000 lounge ratings for the 2009 awards, and have more experience than most of the services available at airports.

The SUMAQ VIP lounge belongs to Inversiones Fisa S.A. a Peruvian corporation and was opened in its current format in 2005 after an initial investment of US$1.5m.  It offers a wide range of services for travelers, including high-quality business facilities for those who want to work, as well as relaxation rooms with blankets and pillows, shower facilities, and outstanding personalized service

Also prominent among the award-winners in 2009 are four airport lounges that won regional Lounge of the Year awards:
North America:                  Continental Presidents Club, Terminal E, Houston
Europe:                            Swiss Lounge, Basel-Mulhouse
Asia-Pacific:                      HUB Lounge, East Wing, Seoul Incheon
Middle East / Africa:           Dilmun Lounge, Bahrain

Commenting on the awards, Jonathan French, Head of Brand at Priority Pass said, “We congratulate all the award-winners.  Our members are discerning travelers and most spend more time in airports than they would like, so these accolades are from an impeccable source.  Excellent lounges like these help make that time more productive and also gives our members the opportunity to minimise the stress of traveling”

SUMAQ’s CEO, Sandra Bravo Goicochea, added, “We are grateful to Priority Pass members for selecting “SUMAQ” as the worldwide Lounge of The Year.  I’m pleased to learn that the hard and consistent work of SUMAQ’s team is recognized day in and day out by the passengers we assist. Our knowledge of travelers’ needs is what has helped us deliver the right quality of service and remain committed to maintaining and exceeding our standards.  We also look forward to extending the SUMAQ quality of service worldwide.”

NOTES TO THE EDITOR

About Priority Pass

Priority Pass was launched in 1992 with the goal of providing frequent travellers with airport lounge access, regardless of their class of travel, airline flown or existing membership in an airline airport lounge program.

In 17 years Priority Pass has become the world's largest independent airport lounge access program. Starting with just 55 lounges, today Priority Pass works with over 600 lounges in more than 325 airports throughout the world - and the network of lounges continues to grow.

Priority Pass has members in all corners of the world and there are Priority Pass offices in Dallas, London and Hong Kong.

How Membership Works

Priority Pass offers three membership plans, each appropriate to a different type of traveller.

Prestige Membership offers outstanding value for money for frequent travellers. For a single annual membership fee of $399, members can make unlimited visits to all the lounges in the program.

Standard Plus Membership is available at a lower annual fee of $249, and includes 10 free visits per year to any of the lounges. Further visits during the year are charged at $27 per visit.

Standard Membership is just $99 per year, and members then pay $27 for each visit made.

All three membership plans allow members to take guests into the lounges with them, at a fee of $27 per guest per visit.
